Electric Concept Car Comes to Life as Cadillac ELR Luxury touring coupe gets extended-range electric vehicle technology DETROIT – The innovative Cadillac Converj Concept, a dramatic luxury coupe with extended-range electric vehicle technology, is moving forward as a production car that will be called the Cadillac ELR. Development of the ELR is just underway, so details on performance, price and timing will be announced later. The Cadillac ELR will feature an electric propulsion system made up of a T-shaped lithium ion battery, an electric drive unit, and a four-cylinder engine-generator. It uses electricity as its primary source to drive the car without using gasoline or producing tailpipe emissions. When the battery’s energy is low, the ELR seamlessly switches to extended-range mode to enable driving for hundreds of additional miles. “The concept generated instant enthusiasm,” said Don Butler, vice president-Cadillac Marketing. “Like other milestone Cadillac models of the past, the ELR will offer something not otherwise present – the combination of electric propulsion with striking design and the fun of luxury coupe driving.” Cadillac selected the name ELR to indicate the car’s electric propulsion technology, in keeping with the brand’s 3-letter international model naming convention. The Converj Concept sparked the idea of combining the desirability of a grand touring coupe with electrification, said Ed Welburn, GM vice president, Global Design. “There’s no mistaking it …

I hate the rear lights. I love Mustangs and those lights look too much like the ’05-’09 Charger rear lights. Other than that, that car looks mean. That’s how it should look.
@Madkevin88 lol me too
@seinfeldfan7898 no i think lots of people are on the same boat
your crazy lol only kidding
I will buy this instead of a house.
I saw somewhere that the plastic lights on the grill are removable for better airflow, I personally would rather have the GT lights still there. Maybe its an option.
:45 Check out them wheel nuts…..
BY GOD I’M SPEECHLESS///
like a boss
id have one of these, without the rear spoiler!
@bartez18NL i LOVE them!
the new GT looks sick, I actually like it better than this one?
I’ll stick with the 2011 Mustang GT. The only thing I love is the tail lights, anyone else agree?
Im sorry. i cant take the 2013 seriously anymore after the front facelift. it looks horrible. I love the earlier design better. that hood and front fascia should stay with the gt500
So my 2013 boss is now cross eyed?
@seinfeldfan7898 I’m a die hard mustang fan and i sort of agree, they should of just kept the way it was before the face lift but only for the GT and V6. and used the “facelift” for the boss onlybut deff keep the rear lights and stuff from the 2013 on the new models.

Take a while to get used to? The new models come out next year bro. Get used to a new look for the 50th anniversary
Finally An EV worth buying!
ShineARidecom, John Roberts, This car is fresh!
will it be a electric one?
Beautiful inside and out, love that full length center console
Looks like a Lamborghini
danmz
thats a sexy baby right there
@superchargedAMG thx
@blangillee why would they terminate it?
The Caddy ELR reminds me so much of my 1990 Olds Eighty-Eight .With just a small stretch of my mind when I’m tooling down the beltway at 45mph I imagine my Olds as this Caddy. People will even do a double take when they pass me at 80mph but I dare not look at them cause I’m driving a new Caddy …in my mind.
@5yuser You are mistaken. Cadillac has done their concepts just as good as their production models recently. The Provoq came to be the SRX, the CTS Coupe Concept didn’t lose anything in transition to production, and the XTS Platinum Concept also looks EXACTLY like the production XTS that was just revealed. I’m pretty sure the ELR will look just like this Converj concept.
@marcusAmaximus couldn’t disagree more…
Man I wanted a Mercedes, this just changed my mind. Hey, thumbs up for gullwing doors!!!!!!!!
justice- genesis
omg. … track??/ anyone please
)
cool tunes, who is that?
looks super
Looks like it can fly
WOWEEEEEE!
I want it!
Yeah the Mercedes-Benz C300 Coupe or BMW 3 looks as good….NOT!
i swear it looks similar to a galardo lol
This thing sucks! why? because they probably won’t actually make a retail version that looks this good in every way like this one for sale. So stupid, this type of car is what people will buy and they could just make it and sell it, but they won’t. I understand the materials used in concept cars can end up costing more, but you don’t actually have to use the same exact type of materials but overall still keep the same design lines and the chassis shape and still manufacture it at target cost.
