a compressed air car at work
Video Rating: 4 / 5

OK, so many of you would like to know how this works, there is no solanoid, just a rubber tube. At first i did not understand how this worked but after seeing this process on another youtube video i had to try it out for myself. Whats happening is when the piston goes up it compresses the air in the tube and then once at top dead center the air in the tube shoots the piston down. You would think that the air would just hould the piston at bottom dead center since there is absolutelly no timing of air being shot into the cylinder, maybe its a loop hole in physics! haha basically its the momentum of the flywheel that keeps it goin. Try it out for yourself!! Its fun to watch the crank shaft fly around while exposed. And to all the people that hate on me for saying that it is a stupid alternative to gasoline, i didnt do it for that purpose, i did it to have fun and watch the mechanics of an exposed 2 stroke engine in action! Note: If trying this at home you can adjust the length of the hose to make the engine run faster or slower, a longer tube will run the engine slower and more smooth, adding more psi is how you set the rpms. My compressor is not very strong but try it out at home see how fast you can get the thing to rev!! And have fun!

@sbscottmonkey the actual 5 mile range 6 hour recharge time horrendous inefficiency and the complete absence of independent tests doesn’t phase you? Strange.
An interesting concept, looking forward to seeing them in the UK!
now…. how do we get more power so we can have the car be a Ferrari on air!
The big Oil corporations are trying their best to stop free energy ideas from spreading to common ppl.
We need to put an end to this corruption ,start generating your own electricity now.

Why are ecological cars always so ugly???
Free energy labeled ‘economic terrorism’ – The widespread adoption of these new, non-polluting energy and propulsion systems will effectively replace the use of oil, gas, coal, nuclear power, impacting 4.5 trillion dollars a year in world economic activity, replace the current? geo-political order with one based on decentralized abundance. @mikehanoo33 Mr. Regusci of Uruguay has limped round neighborhood for 5 miles. Whee a hobby but so’s collecting tea spoons and about as useful
@mikehanoo33 “Mr. Regusci of Uruguay, ” whose car crawled round a parking lot and has a range of about 5 miles has a nice hobby but his hobby is about as useful as collecting teaspoons
The term “air engine” disappeared from engineering textbooks after the 1930s and the second world war. Gas engines had been perfected, the oil industry was established, and gas was cheap.
Serious interest in air cars was rekindled by the energy glitches of the 1970s. Dozens of inventors have patented designs for hybrid, closed cycle, and self-fueling air cars, as well as conversions for existing engines and designs for air cars meant to stop at air stations for refueling.
Armando Regusci Loves to Build Air Cars
In my correspondence with Mr. Regusci of Uruguay, I found him a sincere person and his design very appealing. Like my torquerack engine, his invention does away with the crankshaft, replacing it with sprockets and chains and freewheeling clutches, to turn a shaft.
great. thanks. i will share it on the facebook and tweeter to Royal Iran.
@DravenDarkshadow
To FULLY run a home on PV you need about 6KW of panels with the corresponding batteries etc $40K. Ie the run ovens stoves heating water etc. A $13K system assumes your water heating and cooking needs are from propane or some other source. I’m not arguing you can’t make money selling the excess back to the grid BUT in the western world the money earned does not come near the money the same $ would earn invested in a decent safe investment such as bonds or term deposit
@fizzguts showing figures without the area coverage for the $40k equipment/battery/converter and so fore has no math value here because for 40 grand you can either get a nice setup that also generates more then erough energy to sell back or just enough from a retail store to cover your own use
for example an approximate self build about 13-16k already covers for your own usage, now for an additional investment of another 24k to 27k you can easily start making money from generating energy
@DravenDarkshadow
If you do the math you will realize the $40,000 investment required to run a home on solar photovoltaic has NO payback. Unless you are a long long way from mains power so the cost of running power lines is high there is no point in photovoltaics except for a nice fell good sensation.
@DravenDarkshadow
What on earth are you wittering on about? The former MDI USA distributors own figures confirm this piece of crap is FIVE TIMES LESS efficient that a pure electric vehicle Google Vencat 20 miles for figures to do calcs It’s a stupid CON
but an energy source and even a income generator such as solar is not recognized by most governments is being under utilized because of the energy industry lobbyists keeping solar out of the market. if we did the actual math and studies about this alternative resource the rate of investment is higher then most bonds, investments and far more stable then most of the market trading in the world. Gas is possibly good portable medium in energy usage but it is not as reliable as the sun
if you take the ratio from gasoline to energy to turn the turbine in the machine we know as a vehicle, it is not efficient at all, a lot less compared to compressed air; also we still need to factor how cold we need to bring natural gas in to a liquid form and how much energy to keep it in a liquidized state in both tank and the fuel station if we convert it to an alternative vehicle fuel. as we well know our addiction to coal “cheap fuel” will dominate the market for years to come
@DravenDarkshadow
The speed and distance claims are moonshine and lies.
In the ONLY published test from MDI the car went 5 miles at the speed of a fat bloke on a bicycle.
This is old technology an has no potential for big improvements
It is five times LESS efficient then an electric vehicle (MDI USA’s own figures)
The cars is always going to be available “next year”
This emits no polution but what energy creates the compressed air. Electricity generated by, probably coal, maybe natural gas, unlikely wind or solar. It still emits Fossil Fuel. An equal power small gas motor would be more efficient.
@rancheroman1961 The government will get their taxes no matter what. You can see that now since Health Care has passed. Gas mileage is consumer driven. Fuels & tuning is a compromise for polution standards. Communist countries that take all peoples money,(100%) taxes still get the same fuel mileage so theres no incentive there to keep it low. FACTS light cars with small motors get better MPG. Electric cars use more energy than equal sized gas cars, (unless run on fuel cells).
keep in mind that during “rush hour” in the city meaning both going to work and coming back from work, the avg speed significantly decreases as we go higher in population which means from 7MPH in London to maybe 37 MPH here in Canada
unless we are always driving on the highway it is simply better to drive the air car within the city
hail to the engineers
Awesome! Now, hire someone to design a body style that’s not ugly. We Americans will never adopt the technology unless it looks sexy.
Seems to me this thing would get cold during operation. Does it? or does it not really run long enough.
would drilling a 2 inch by 1 inch hole where the piston reaches the bottom, on 2 4 stroke engines. and taking out the cam and piston rings then having the 2 motors pistons going up and down in opposite directions. only problem i can think of is the pistons geting stuck in the middle of the cycle.
@TePupaTati
The laws of thermodynamics say no-
You cannot get more energy out of a process than is put in, and there are always frictional losses.
@GreeseMonkeyy what did you do to that engine in order to make it run off of compressed air? i didn’t see a valve in the video, did you do anything other than put compressed air in it?
how does that work without a solenoid valve?
how did u do that? thats a 2 stroke right? how did yo u do that without it just going back and forth?
guys, why would you keep modifying combustion engine to air engine if you have no way to produce compressed air by an attached device to the motor? a smart thing is to try find a way to compress air … i know most of you will say this is not possible but i am sure that can be done. one of the option is: once tha crank shaft is spinning, it will produce electricity wich you can use it to compress air and you will have an air compressed device atached to your engine… how’s that?
bash valve??
The condenced air you see as water coming out of the area on the first part of the video where u put the muffler on. That muffler would rot off or become so corroded that it wont work at all. Put a air/water seperater before your motor. lol’
I didnt mean to sound rude at all in this either, just a word of advice! Looks good tho
@MaximusMountain 300 would be more than enough depending on the engine. The bigger the piston the more force on it, so lets say you piston is one square inch. You have 300 pounds of force. Now double the radius (I am doing this because it shows more how quickly power increases with size) now you have 4 square inches and 1200 pounds of force with a piston 2 inches across. Now calculate it for 2 pistons if you get a V-twin. 2400 lbs is plenty, thats over a ton
no lubrication
that is nice with the 2stroke……You do not lose your power like with the converted 4stoke engines with air
the engine in not really running it’s only alternate turning rigth and left
@MaximusMountain 300 psi would be enough to power a bicycle no doubt at all, ive made a air engine similar to this one, and it needs a minimum of 18 psi to operate, i have only had 130 psi because of the way the valves are situated any more and it would hold them open, if you could put 300 psi into the engine with out it exploding or rupturing that would be probably equivalent to about 50 cc+ engine im guessing.
@MaximusMountain you could probably create something that re generates the air back into the tank to slow you down haha
ewwwwwwww muffler.
You need a solenoid valve and a reed switch use existing magnet on flywheel just position the switch where it activates valve right as the piston heads down this will make your air moter rum much more efficient
Pretty Cool good job!
what kind of question is that, were not creating any combustion here…the only thing would be maybe to protect the crank bearings or piston rings? but not to help the motor to turn, just to keep it maintaned
