Ecology For Everyone

Geothermal energy, energy of the future?

REPORT: In the French countryside, technicians are experimenting with geothermal heat energy as an alternative energy source. (V. Morgan et P. Lovett)
Video Rating: 4 / 5

Across Australia, thousands of people are already working to develop new technologies and harness cleaner energy sources. These include solar, gas, wind, and hydro, along with new energy sources like geothermal and wave energy. People are also working to turn waste into energy and to retrofit commercial buildings to make them more energy efficient. For more information, go to www.cleanenergyfuture.gov.au

@rss0246 sorry to burst your bubble but a plant in switzerland has been closed because it triggered thousands of seismic events, geothermal can be the future but we are at the begining of a long journey about learning the whole system.

The future is here! What this video predicted has been proven right.

The water is 3 times as salty as sea water. Drilling has to go through 5,000 feet of granite. Will it work?

An EGS power plant (like the one operated at Los Alamos for nearly a decade) doesn’t emit water vapor, greenhouse gases or anything else. It is a sealed, closed-loop system.

Also, 90% of the Earth’s volume is over 1000 degrees F. Scratching the surface (the skin of the apple if you will) by drilling three to five miles into the earth’s crust won’t change this. The decaying fissile material inside the Earth (some as far as 4000 miles away) will neither know nor care… :]

What about Hydrogen Sulfide emissions? A gas fatal in even low concentrations

I invented a breakthrough energy source which violates the law of energy conservation. I have a PROOF that there are electrodynamic phenomena which violate the law of energy conservation. Making a 6 kW generator will cost $1200, value of the energy produced yearly $5400, zero operating costs. I am looking for $300 000 for a prototype and for $3M for patents.

i cant believe this isn’t more widely used. get with it gov’t!

  8. @terrasrevenge u gotta be kidding me, even if we find the best energy source, free energy will never come
